Application Requirements:
For Phd Direct entry:
We recommend all Bachelor degree holders (4-year B.S.) to apply directly for the Ph.D. program. This attractive option is available to both local and international applicants, offering a fast track into the research world. The Ph.D. program typically takes four to five years to complete.- A minimum GPA of 3.00 on a 4.00 scale (or equivalent) in the B.S. degree. Official transcripts and degree certificates must be provided.
- Completion of TOEFL with a minimum score of 550 (PBT), 213 (CBT), or 80 (IBT). The TOEFL score must be sent directly to the Deanship of Graduate Studies using the KFUPM code 0868. Alternatively, IELTS with a minimum score of 6.5 or Duolingo with a minimum score of 120 are also acceptable.
For Ph.D. Programs:
- An M.S. degree in engineering or science from an institution with graduate programs equivalent to those at KFUPM, with a major in the proposed field, or evidence of a suitable background for entering the proposed field.
- A minimum GPA of 3.00 on a 4.00 scale (or equivalent) in both the B.S. and M.S. degrees. Official transcripts and degree certificates must be provided for admission.
- Completion of TOEFL with a minimum score of 550 (PBT), 213 (CBT), or 80 (IBT). The TOEFL score must be sent directly to the Deanship of Graduate Studies using the KFUPM code 0868. Alternatively, IELTS with a minimum score of 6.5 or Duolingo with a minimum score of 120 are also acceptable.
- Two letters of recommendation, preferably from faculty members who taught the applicant in graduate courses.
- Meeting any additional departmental or university admission requirements satisfactorily.
- Note: Meeting the minimum admission requirements does not guarantee admission to the program, as final admission depends on an evaluation of the entire application and the capacity of individual programs.
For Masters:
Applying for Ph.D. Direct Entry is strongly recommended. The minimum requirements for possible admission to Master's programs in engineering or sciences are as follows:- A four-year Bachelor’s (B.S.) Degree in engineering or science from a recognized institution, with a major in the proposed field or evidence of a suitable background for entering the proposed field.
- A point average (GPA) of 3.00 or higher on a scale of 4.00 (or equivalent) for scholarship applicants, or 2.50 or higher on a scale of 4.00 (or equivalent) for non-scholarship applicants.
- Completion of TOEFL with a minimum score of 520 (PBT), 190 (CBT), or 70 (IBT). The TOEFL score must be sent directly to the Deanship of Graduate Studies using the KFUPM code 0868. Alternatively, IELTS with a minimum score of 6.0 or Duolingo with a minimum score of 105 are also acceptable.
- Two letters of recommendation, preferably from faculty members who taught the applicant in university-level courses. These should be submitted through the online recommendation system.
- Satisfactorily meeting any additional departmental or university admission requirements.
